July Step Count

Before I get to the stats, I’m pleased to note that my 6-monthly check-up in July was fine. Bloods are stable and (mostly) just on the right side of normal. There’s no other sign (lumps, night sweats, fatigue, weight loss etc.) of a relapse either. It doesn’t take much contact with others in the MCL community to know how fortunate I am though. Because of this, I will definitely be doing a fundraiser in the autumn. There will be more about what I have planned in a later post.

We’ve had a regular evening visitor to our garden this month. A Raspberry Pi Zero 2W connected to a battery and infrared camera tracks their movements.

Pinny!

Unfortunately they’re not doing the greatest job of deterring slugs and snails, as witnessed by the state of my carrot and beetroot bed.

But the shallots have done well, as have the mangetout and strawberries.

Slugs and snails don’t like shallots, apparently.

The tomato plants are covered in flowers, but not much fruit has set yet. The poor summer weather certainly seems to have put the bees and other flying insects off visiting, though there’s been a definite and welcome uptick in activity during the last week.

To the steps. July wasn’t quite as good as June (it’s a relief that we don’t have a general election every month), but I still managed to exceed my target by a little over 11,000. To hit three million for the year I therefore need to average *only* another 7,342 steps per day.
